Terms of Use

Opportunity For (opportunityfor.nz) is an independent community events platform. These terms apply to everyone who uses the site — whether to host an event, RSVP, or browse.

Using this platform

By using this site you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the platform.

Hosting events

  • Hosts are responsible for the accuracy, legality, and safety of their events.
  • Hosts must not post content that is misleading, defamatory, harassing, discriminatory, infringes others' rights, or impersonates another person or organisation.
  • Hosts must not use the platform for commercial solicitation or for events that are unlawful.
  • If you receive attendee email addresses through an opt-in, you are the sender for the purposes of the Unsolicited Electronic Messages Act 2007. You must include accurate sender identification, a functional unsubscribe mechanism, and only send messages consistent with the consent the attendee gave at RSVP time.
  • Opportunity For may remove any event or content at its discretion and without notice.

Attending events

  • RSVPs are a direct relationship between attendees and event hosts. Opportunity For is not a party to that relationship and is not responsible for what occurs at events.
  • Attendees must not collect, scrape, or republish information about other attendees from the platform.

Email marketing opt-in

  • When RSVPing, you may be given the option to receive communications from the event host.
  • If you opt in, your email address is shared with that host. From that point, the host is responsible for their mailing list — including honoring unsubscribe requests and complying with the Unsolicited Electronic Messages Act 2007.
  • Opportunity For is not responsible for any communications sent by hosts.

Platform rights

We may update, restrict, or remove any content or feature at any time without notice.

Limitation of liability

Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993, the Fair Trading Act 1986, or any other law that cannot be excluded by agreement. Subject to that, the platform is provided as-is and to the maximum extent permitted by law, Opportunity For is not liable for any loss or damage arising from use of the platform or from attending events listed on it.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand and the parties submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the New Zealand courts.

Changes

We may update these terms at any time. Continued use of the platform after changes are posted constitutes acceptance.
